History

Independent Living Options was registered with the Companies Registration Office (CRO) on 17/04/08, for the purpose of administering a Direct Payment to recruit a Personal Assistant (P.A), to assist a person with a physical disability.

In 2010 Breffni Integrated in conjunction with what was the Center for Independent Living (CIL), now Independent Living Movement Ireland (ILMI), commissioned a report on direct payments in Ireland.  Three people with disabilities who avail of a direct payment service  took part in the report. One person was from an urban setting and the other participants were from Cavan. The report looked at the different stages and methods of administering a direct payment.
